Years ago, I became a Hypnotherapist because I was fascinated with hypnosis and how it helped people. I got to see how by changing our minds, we really can change our lives. And yet, I didn't apply it to my own weight issue – at first. I went to Weight Watchers and lost weight. It was great! Then I gained it back. I went on the Fat Flush Diet and lost weight – and gained it back. I thought maybe it's the diet, so I choose another diet and lost some weight and gained it back. I hated giving up foods that I loved so as soon as I reached my goal weight, I would sigh with relief and go back to eating the very foods that caused me to gain the weight in the first place. I don't know if that has happened to you, but even though those foods were toxic to me, I continued to see them as my go to foods. You know, those foods you go to when your upset, tired, or overly hungry, or just watching tv. Any excuse will do.
One day a light bulb went off in my head. I'm a Hypnotherapist. I have the tools to change my story and how I feel about the food I'm choosing to eat. I could use the very techniques I already know and have used with my clients for years to successfully address all kinds of issues. I put a specific group of these techniques together around weight loss and lost 30 pounds myself. I was thrilled with the results because I not only lost the weight, I lost the cravings for the foods that put the weight on in the first, second, and third place. I felt relieved to finally be free of the weight and the desire for unhealthy foods. And, I realized that other people might have as much trouble as I had getting the weight off and keeping it off.
I have been lucky enough to help other women lose weight and keep it off. Every time a woman reaches her goal, I feel the gratitude and excitement I felt for my own win. I love seeing women take their power back and feel they have control of more than just their bodies.
And, that is why I do what I do.
